Tom man! I feel this so hard bro!! When you’ve been on top for your entire life it becomes harder as an adult, basically tearing yourself apart to continue to reach for the top… It helps to learn to be comfortable at your current level and work from there without comparing yourself to the past. Easier said than done but the fall you’re expecting probably wouldn’t be as hard as you think.

I wonder if the “Because it won’t happen” is about him never making it to the big leagues in media or that his mom won’t affect his success when he reaches that goal.
the fact that the last frame with Tom genuinely looks like the artist drew the smile on top of his actual expression but ONLY if you look VERY VERY closely (I have a big monitor) is SUCH a good touch and I choose to believe it’s intentional. like the narrative he spins in front of others… his eyes betray him, even in spite of the cut-and-paste smile. i imagine no one but Daph could know because he metaphorically and perhaps literally doesn’t let anyone get close enough.
